Has anyone else looked into the involvement of local law enforcement in the area around the time of the Arellano murders? I was reading up on past cases and noticed a significant lack of mentions about cooperation from nearby police departments or sheriff’s offices, aside from the Texas Rangers. I can't help but wonder if there might have been some jurisdictional challenges or missed opportunities due to lack of coordination or resources during that time, especially considering it was the late 60s.
I feel for the Arellano family and anyone who personally knew them. This is such a profound tragedy that continues to haunt the community decades later. It’s vital for us to look back and see how investigative processes might have evolved, and what nuances in these old investigations could be different today. Here's hoping that an increased spotlight and public interest might eventually lead to new insights or witnesses coming forward. If there are any law enforcement experts here with thoughts on how cases like this were handled in the past, I’d love to hear more.
