I came across a photo of Debbie Ackerman and Maria Johnson today while digging into the Texas Killing Fields cases again, and it really hit me how they were just young girls with their whole lives ahead of them. Debbie was known around school as this vibrant, creative spirit, and I think that’s something we sometimes overlook when we're discussing cold cases—these were real people with dreams and futures. Reading about how they disappeared after what was supposed to be a fun day at the mall, I couldn't help but feel for their families, who have had to carry this unimaginable pain for decades without answers. I know there's been speculation over the years about Edward Harold Bell and all the varying theories, but what gets me is how many people must hold bits and pieces of information without realizing it. I pray that one day soon, someone comes forward with that missing piece of the puzzle. These girls and their families deserve closure, and I hope we keep discussing their stories until justice is finally served.
