I’ve been thinking a lot about the circumstances surrounding the phone call Wally Jay Simoneaux made to his mom on that horrific night in October 1972. It must have been an absolutely terrifying moment for his family, hearing only that desperate cry of "Mama" before the line went dead. That brief connection, though heart-wrenching, was likely one of the last links they had to him. It leaves so many questions... what was going on in those last moments? And was there anything more they could have done? The uncertainty and the "what-ifs" must be incredibly difficult for them to live with. It’s devastating to realize that despite his cry for help, the horror continued. My heart truly goes out to both families affected by this unimaginable tragedy.
