I've been following the tragedy at the First Baptist Church in Daingerfield and wanted to express my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, including Gene Gandy. I can't imagine the pain they've been through. I've read some about the actions of Red McDaniel and Kenneth Truitt, who courageously tried to intervene during the chaos. It's really something to think about the instinct some people have to protect others even in the most terrifying situations. It makes me wonder about the kind of discussions we should be having about emergency preparedness and how we can all be better equipped to handle unexpected, dangerous situations. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in Daingerfield as they continue to heal from this tragic event.
