Hey all,
I've been captivated by the story of Detective Robert F. Camfield and wanted to discuss something I'm curious about regarding that tragic night. I read that he was working off-duty security at a nightclub, which seems like it might have been a common practice for officers back then. Does anyone have insights into how these off-duty jobs are typically coordinated? I'm wondering if it was standard procedure for officers to take on these roles, especially since the risks can be so high. Detective Camfield was doing his best to maintain safety, and it's just gut-wrenching to think that such a selfless act led to such a tragic end. My heart truly goes out to his family and everyone who knew him. It must still be incredibly difficult for them. Would love to hear any thoughts or knowledge anyone might have on the off-duty security practices of that time.
Peace and safety to all.
I've been thinking a lot about Detective Camfield's partner during the incident and can't imagine the trauma they must have experienced. Being involved in such a tragic situation where a fellow officer and friend was lost must be incredibly difficult to process and live with. I hope they've received support and understanding from their department and community. It's crucial that we remember not only those who give the ultimate sacrifice but also those who are left to carry the weight of such incidents. Keeping everyone touched by this tragedy in my thoughts. Anyone else have insights on how departments typically support officers involved in situations like this?
