Wow, I just can't wrap my head around the disappearance of that evidence. The missing .25-caliber pistol and other items crucial to the case should never have happened. It's alarming that something so vital could vanish from the Sheriff's Office, especially considering how pivotal it was in connecting Fontenot to the crime. I feel for Billy's family, who must be frustrated and devastated, knowing that significant pieces of the puzzle went missing. It makes me wonder if this was more than just an error. Does anyone think that the loss of evidence played a part in Fontenot's acquittal, or was the case just too tangled to begin with? Would love to hear thoughts on how this could happen... seems like justice failed Billy on multiple levels.
