Has anyone else been following the Subir Kumar Chatterjee case? It's so disheartening to think about how his life was cut short that day. What really sticks with me about this investigation is the lack of surveillance footage at the scene. In 2002, having reliable camera systems in place may not have been as common as they are now, but it's tough not to think about how valuable it could have been from the start. The details seem so scarce because of this. Despite some witness descriptions, the absence of video left investigators with such limited leads. It's a relief that justice was finally served, but my thoughts are with Subir's family who had to wait so long for answers. If only there had been more tools available at the time to help solve the case sooner.
I've been following Subir Kumar Chatterjee's case for a while now, and something about it just sticks with me. I keep going back to the description of the suspects from that day. A witness mentioned one of them might be Middle Eastern, and the other had reddish-brown hair—I wonder how accurate those descriptions really were. In the chaos of a crime scene, it's so easy for details to get mixed up, right? But the fact that they had an Oldsmobile Alero with a red paper tag seems like it could have been a big clue at the time. It's just unfortunate there were no surveillance cameras to capture more detailed images. It must've been so hard for Mr. Chatterjee's family to know there were pieces of the puzzle missing for so long. I really feel for them having to wait all those years before the case got resolved. Thank goodness for those advancements in DNA tech, or else who knows when—not if—they would have found the answers they desperately needed.
