I've been thinking a lot about the children Wendy left behind. Just imagining what they must have gone through breaks my heart. Dawson, Shadrick, Tyson, and Derrick lost their mom in such a tragic way, and it's difficult to fathom how they must have felt going through that at such young ages. I hope they have been surrounded by a supportive network of family and friends since then. The whole situation really underscores how deeply and widely domestic violence affects families, not just the immediate people involved. It's critical that communities have resources available to support children who endure such traumatic events and help them heal as they grow up. If anyone knows of ways to assist or support groups that have helped families in similar situations, please share. Wendy's story, to me, is a stark reminder of how important it is for us to be vigilant and supportive of those around us.

I don’t know their ages, but losing a parent is incredibly traumatic, especially under these circumstances.
