As I think about Deena McLean and her family's tragic story, what strikes me most is the resilience and bravery of the surviving relatives, especially considering Shauna's little child was present during such a terrifying ordeal. It must be incredibly difficult to carry on after witnessing and escaping such violence. I can only imagine the kind of emotional support and counseling that's needed for the family to begin to heal from such a traumatic experience. It's a reminder to all of us about the long-lasting impact of domestic violence on families and the importance of community support in times like these. Keeping them in my thoughts and hoping they find some peace and strength to move forward. ? Stay safe, everyone, and please look out for one another.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact this tragedy must have had on Shauna's little one. It's dismaying to know that some small comfort might have been found in the fact that they weren't physically harmed during the attack, but the emotional scars from losing their mother, grandparents, and seeing this all unfold must run deep. A child so young doesn't fully grasp the situation, yet the repercussions will echo throughout their life. I do hope the extended family or any caregivers can provide the stability and support this child will need growing up. It's hard enough to process such violence as adults, so I can't even imagine the challenges they face as they grow older and learn about the circumstances. Sending thoughts to those who are stepping in to fulfill the roles of guidance, love, and protection for this young one. Anyone from the community who knows how they’re doing now?
