It's been so many years, and I still can't believe that Michael Chavez's case hasn't been solved. What I can't wrap my head around is the boldness of the suspects fleeing in not one, but two distinct vehicles—the dark four-door sedan and that green Cadillac. You'd think someone somewhere would remember seeing those cars around the time of the murder. I wonder if there are any places near Porsche Lane that might have had security cameras running that day. It's 2014 we're talking about; there must be something out there that's been missed. To the Chavez family and those close to Michael, I just want to say that your community hasn't forgotten him. It must be terribly frustrating, but many of us are still hopeful and believe that justice will eventually be served. Keep holding on to the good memories and don't lose hope. ?

Has anyone else been following the case of Michael Chavez? I've been thinking a lot about the role of community involvement in unsolved cases like his. It seems like, despite the passage of time, there's still hope that someone from the neighborhood might have seen something crucial. It's often the little details that break a case wide open. If you lived or still live near Porsche Lane or know folks who do, it might be worth having another conversation about that day. It's painful to imagine what his family must be going through without closure. Here's hoping for a breakthrough soon. Does anyone know if there have been any recent community efforts or gatherings to keep the case visible?
