Does anyone else find it deeply concerning that Deputy Willis had a history of being rejected by other law enforcement agencies, including failing a psychological exam with the Austin Police Department? It seems like such an important red flag that should have been taken more seriously before entrusting him with a badge and a gun. The fact that there were allegations of tampering with his training records is even more unsettling. It's hard not to think about how these factors could have contributed to the senseless loss of Yvette Smith's life. My heart goes out to her family, who had to endure not only the tragic loss but also a legal battle in seeking justice for Yvette. This case really makes you question the processes in place for hiring and training officers. Why isn't there a more rigorous system to prevent someone with such a concerning background from being on the field? Would love to hear your thoughts on how hiring practices might be improved to prevent another tragedy like this.
