I’ve been following Jennilynn Montana’s case, and I can’t stop thinking about the kind of responsibility adults have around firearms. It just makes my heart ache to know that this sweet little girl's life was cut short because a gun was left accessible. I read somewhere that the gun’s owner had a habit of leaving it outside, but why was it ever brought into the house? And how did this man feel comfortable enough to leave a weapon where children lived? So many layers of trust and protection were broken, and it should serve as a serious wake-up call for anyone thinking it’s okay to leave guns unsecured. My thoughts are with Jennilynn’s family as they continue to cope with this unimaginable loss.
