Wow, I can't get this case out of my mind. I've been thinking about the items McGinnis stole and how the police found them at a relative's home in Haltom City. It's just chilling to consider this person thought he could rob the family and just hide the evidence with people he knew. How desperate must someone be to not only take lives but then try to profit off it? It's especially tough thinking about April and her family, losing everything in an instant, with their own belongings later discovered just tossed aside. I feel for those who knew and loved them. The fact that this tragedy also catalyzed discussions about domestic violence and vigilance makes me hope we can all learn something from their loss. Keeping their memory alive by working on these issues might not bring them back, but it's something we can all do to honor the lives they lived.
