It's so devastating to think about how this case illustrates the shortcomings of our systems meant to protect vulnerable kids. I can’t stop wondering how, despite CPS being involved, things got to such a horrifying point. It’s haunting to think about Jonah and his siblings, all those chances we missed to save them. I can't help but feel for the other families in the neighborhood, too. How do you overcome living steps away from where such a dark event took place? It changes everything. I hope there’s been some stronger support networks put in place since then, both for the families touched by this tragedy and for those working on the front lines trying to safeguard kids in similar situations. No child should have their cries for help amplified only in retrospect.
