Hey all, I've been closely following the Richard Jorgensen case, and I'm curious about the impact it must have had on The Woodlands High School softball team and the community. Being a high school athlete can be so formative, and these students suddenly lost not just their coach, but also had a shocking revelation about him to process. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for the team members who looked up to him, especially if they were unaware of his alleged actions. Does anyone know if the school brought in specific trauma specialists for the team or how they’ve been supporting these young athletes? I hope the school community is banding together to make sure the affected students feel supported and safe going forward. If anyone has updates on how the team and the school are handling this, please share. The students need all the support they can get after such a devastating situation.

Has anyone else been thinking about the role that schools and athletic programs play in situations like Richard Jorgensen's? It's so upsetting to think about how someone in a position of trust, like a coach, could potentially harm students. My deepest sympathies are with the victim and her family; they must be going through so much right now. It makes me wonder how schools can better protect their students to prevent things like this from happening. Are there more effective background checks or training programs that should be required for school staff? It seems like such a complex issue, but it's critical for the community to address and find solutions.
