I keep thinking about the impact this tragic event must have had on the younger kids at the block party, especially the 10-year-old who got caught up in the chaos. Imagine going to enjoy fireworks and having to witness something so traumatic. It’s hard not to worry about how these kids are dealing with the aftermath. Are there any support systems in place for them? It’s vital for communities to come together not just immediately after such events, but to provide ongoing support to help them heal. My heart goes out to the families of Daquarius, Charles, Jamal, and everyone else affected. These continued cycles of violence tear at the fabric of neighborhoods and it's so important for us to find ways to address this on a deeper level. If anyone has more info on local organizations doing good work in the Fourth Ward, please share. Community support could make all the difference in preventing future tragedies like this.
