Did anyone else find it interesting how the investigators managed to track Eric Cavazos so quickly after he fled? It just amazes me how law enforcement can piece things together across state lines in such a short amount of time. I read that they tracked him to a Greyhound via his phone records. It's reassuring to see that they had the technology and resources to bring him in fairly swiftly, though it makes you wonder what might have happened if they hadn't caught him as fast. Seeing how this all unfolded, it's a stark reminder of how pivotal technology can be in solving crimes today. My heart goes out to the Macias family and the two other teens who lived through such a horrifying event. Stay safe, everyone.
I've been reading up on the tragic case of Joseph Rene Macias, and what's really been haunting me lately are the 911 calls made just three minutes after the shooting. I can't even begin to imagine the panic and fear during those moments. The fact that this was all organized through social media just amplifies the urgency and seriousness of these new-age dangers. It makes me wonder if there’s anything else we can do to educate young people about the risks associated with these kinds of face-to-face meetings for drug deals. My heart goes out to Joseph’s family and friends who have to navigate this devastating loss. How can we better protect our youth from falling into such dangerous situations?
