It's hard to imagine the shock that Ernest Shelton’s family must still be going through. Coming from a small, tight-knit town like Seminole, something like this just doesn’t seem real. I recently read about the support systems in Seminole and it reminds me of how communities can rally together in tough times. I wonder how the families of Shelton and the other victims have been coping since that awful day in March 2017. The idea that such violence could happen in a place where everyone knows each other feels so distant from everyday reality, yet here we are. Does anyone know if the community put together any kind of memorial for the victims? I've noticed in other cases, plaques and vigils sometimes provide a place for collective grief and remembrance. Thoughts and prayers to all families affected, hoping they have the strength and support to find some peace amidst this chaos.
Has anyone else been following the details about the bond set for Jacob R. Groening? It's been on my mind lately, and I just can’t shake the feeling of disbelief over the $2 million bond amount. I understand it's supposed to ensure he remains in custody given the severity of the crime, but couldn't they have pushed it even higher given the impact on the victims and the community? Ernest Shelton and Patricia Marquez lost their lives, and Miguel Diaz is still recovering. The whole situation is weighing heavily on the community. I just hope the legal system continues to bring justice and gives some sense of peace to the families affected. Anyone else have thoughts or insights on how these bond amounts are generally determined or adjusted in such cases?
