Has anyone else thought about the heartbreaking ripple effect this crime had on Juan Correa’s neighborhood? I’ve been thinking a lot about how even if you didn’t personally know him, the loss of someone so involved in community life leaves a real void. Stories about him riding his horse around town paint such a vivid picture of a man who clearly touched many lives around him. It’s hard to imagine the sorrow his family and friends are enduring right now. It must be unbearable to lose someone so unexpectedly and senselessly. We often talk about justice when it comes to the perpetrators, but there’s never enough focus on healing for the families left behind. It’s comforting to see the community rallying around them, though. That kind of support doesn’t make the pain disappear, but it shows the enduring strength and kindness of the people around us. If anyone has thoughts on how we can further support families affected by tragedies like this, I’d love to hear them.
