I came across a puzzling detail in Jean Carlos's case that I think deserves more discussion. When the guide called on August 9th to inform Jean’s brother that he was left behind, they mentioned blisters on his feet. I’m wondering if anyone has any insights into how severe blisters have to be for someone to actually abandon their journey? It seems like a drastic decision, especially since they were so close to their destination. Could there have been more to the story that wasn’t passed on to Jean’s brother? What do you all think about the guide waiting until the 9th to update the brother? It feels like they should have been more proactive when they knew there was an issue. Anyone familiar with this area or similar situations who can shed some light?
Has anyone been following the case of Jean Carlos who went missing near HWY 86? I was just thinking about how tough these border crossings can be, especially in August when it's scorching hot out there. Jean Carlos was reportedly left behind because of blistered feet, which seems like something guides would be prepared for. Does anyone know if there are any water stations or rescue teams routinely patrolling that area? It's heartbreaking to think he might be out there still needing help. It's such rough terrain, and with the temps soaring during summer, I keep wondering if there might have been a chance to get him aid sooner. Also, does anyone have insights on how often similar incidents occur in that region? It might help to get a better sense of the risks others face when attempting these dangerous crossings.
