I'm curious if anyone here has insights into early 20th-century police procedures? I'm digging into the disappearance of Sigmund Myers from 1920, and there's conflicting info about him possibly being a patrolman. Could old police records be the key to finding out more about his last known whereabouts or daily routine? I feel like either confirming or debunking the patrolman angle might shed light on what really happened. It's odd that there's so little solid info despite his case being filed in missing persons databases like NamUs. Would love to hear thoughts from anyone who knows about historical police records or this era in general.

I came across information recently about Sigmund Myers that got me thinking. A lot of people have speculated about his fate, but I wonder if anyone has truly looked into the Spanish flu angle? It might be easy to overlook, but the timing is so close. If Myers was indeed dealing with illness or maybe even helping others as reports suggest he might have been a patrolman, the risk of catching the flu would have been significant. It wasn't uncommon back then for entire families or communities to be affected, and records could easily be lost or misreported during such a chaotic time. Has anyone found any records of mass burials or unclaimed bodies from that period in Portland? I wonder if archival newspapers or hospital records from 1920 could offer any clues.
