Has anyone looked into the particular league he was treasurer for? I've been thinking about the $400 he was carrying—was this normal for him to have that amount of cash? I get that he was the treasurer, but it stands out to me as a potential motive for someone to harm him. Did the investigators ever suspect anyone from his bowling league? It's curious that his personal belongings were found the next day, but not him. It would be interesting to know more about the league members, any disputes he might have had with them, or if anyone was acting strangely around that time.
Has anyone looked into the bowling alley angle in Gene Whitacre's case? I keep circling back to the fact that he was carrying $400 in cash as the treasurer of the bowling league. Could someone have known he’d have that cash and planned to rob him? It seems like an obvious motive, especially considering the blood-stained shirt and other personal items they found nearby. It’s just a strange piece of the puzzle that sticks out to me, and I wonder if there were any witnesses at the bowling alley that night who might have seen something suspicious. Maybe someone lurking around who didn’t fit in with the usual crowd?
I'm really curious about the role that Whitacre's position in the bowling league might have played in his disappearance. As the treasurer, he was responsible for handling a lot of cash, especially on the nights they met up. I wonder if someone at the bowling alley that night knew he had that $400 on him and saw it as an easy opportunity to get some quick money. It's chilling to think that something as seemingly innocent as a night of bowling could have been the backdrop for a much more sinister plan. Does anyone know if any of the other league members were questioned thoroughly? It seems strange that there hasn't been much focus on potential motives outside of his work at Sandia. Maybe there's a lead there that got overlooked.
