I’ve been thinking a lot about the night at Taqueria Estrella Jalisco where Carlos Valdez lost his life. What really gets to me is the role of witnesses who were present during the incident. It must have been absolutely terrifying to witness something so tragic unfold in front of their eyes. I can’t even imagine the impact it’s had on them, knowing they saw the last moments of Carlos's life. From what I’ve read, these eyewitnesses were crucial in helping the authorities identify Francisco Velasquez as the shooter. It takes courage to come forward in situations like this; I just hope they’ve been getting the support they need. Every time I think about Carlos's family, including his children who’ve lost a father, my heart goes out to them. I hope justice is served and they find some comfort in that, though I know it can't take away their loss. Sending them strength during this incredibly difficult time.
