I'm still trying to wrap my head around the senseless loss of Miles Christian Mitchell. It's especially hard knowing how young he was, with so much of his life ahead of him. From what I've read, Miles was trying to steer his life in a positive direction and finish high school. My heart really goes out to his parents and siblings—it's unimaginable what they must be going through right now. This whole situation just makes me think about all the young lives caught in the crossfire of such violence. It's alarming that a 15-year-old was involved in the shooting. What is happening with our youth, that these situations even occur? It seems like everyone, not just parents, needs to step up to guide and protect our young people better. The community support following his death shows how loved Miles was, but it's just devastating that it takes a tragedy to bring these issues to the forefront. I'm hoping this sparks some much-needed change regarding youth involvement in violent crimes and gun control in the area. It's time for all of us to take a stand.
