Hi everyone,
I'm still shaken by everything I've read and learned about Muhlaysia Booker's case. While it's been mentioned before, I can't help but focus on the courage she showed in the face of such unbelievable adversity. After enduring that horrific attack and knowing her face was plastered all over social media, she somehow found the strength to continue advocating for herself and others. That takes an enormous amount of bravery that should be acknowledged.
It's absolutely devastating to think about what she must have gone through emotionally—knowing that her life was in danger simply because of her identity. Her family and friends must have been constantly on edge. I can’t imagine the pain her loved ones must have felt, first seeing her survive such a brutal attack and then losing her so soon after.
Her story needs to keep being told as a strong reminder of the changes needed in society. In a cruel twist, her death shined a much-needed spotlight on the violence faced by the transgender community. I believe each of us can play a part in supporting and uplifting these voices, ensuring justice for Muhlaysia and others like her. Let's keep discussing and exposing these issues so we can push for a world where everyone can feel safe and respected.
Sending strength to all who knew and loved Muhlaysia. ??️

Hi everyone,
I've been following Muhlaysia Booker's case and wanted to bring some attention to the legal side of things. It's incredibly frustrating but sadly not surprising to see how the initial assault on Muhlaysia was handled by the judicial system. Edward Thomas, who brutally attacked her in front of a large group of people, only received a charge for misdemeanor assault. How does that even begin to make sense when she suffered a concussion and a fractured wrist? It feels like there was a massive lack of accountability for the mob violence she endured.
It’s hard not to wonder if the leniency in Thomas’s sentence somehow set the stage for what happened later. Muhlaysia's death is a tragic reminder that we need our legal systems to do better in protecting vulnerable communities. Every time justice isn't served, it seems like it sends a horrible message about the value of lives like Muhlaysia's.
My heart really goes out to Muhlaysia’s family and friends. I hope we can keep talking about these issues and push for substantial change. What are your thoughts on how these initial cases are often managed? It feels like there's got to be something more we can do to ensure justice is served from the get-go.
Stay safe and take care.
I’ve been following Muhlaysia Booker's case, and I can't stop thinking about that awful April day at the Royal Crest Apartments. It’s such a stark reminder of how quickly things can escalate from a simple accident to a violent mob situation. It's horrifying to know that crowd was more interested in recording the incident than helping her when she was so vulnerable. The fact that someone was paid to attack her is truly sickening.
While Edward Thomas' conviction might seem like a drop in the bucket given what happened later, it’s a bit unsettling to think about the justice that was (or wasn’t) served. I can’t imagine the pain and fear Muhlaysia and her family felt after the assault, and it’s heartbreaking she never got a moment of peace before her untimely death. I'm hopeful that by discussing her story, we can all push for a society that stands up against this kind of violence and truly supports the transgender community.
