I can't stop thinking about the timeline leading up to Eric Starr's tragic death. It's troubling to know that someone with a prior shooting charge was able to be out on bond. It feels like such a failure in the justice system to allow someone so clearly dangerous back onto the streets. The fact that Eric's family has to deal with the aftermath of this loss, knowing it could have been avoided, is so painful to consider. It really makes you question the effectiveness of the bonds process and whether changes need to be made to protect innocent lives. My heart goes out to Eric's widow and everyone who loved him. They deserve answers and some semblance of peace after enduring such a devastating loss.
