Has anyone delved deep into Toliver's past before he started working at the Tri/Valley Growers cannery? I find it odd that a potential serial killer like him could emerge seemingly out of nowhere. It's possible he might have been involved in other unsolved cases that predate his time in Modesto. What if there are more victims we don't even know about? Local news archives or police reports from areas he lived in prior to Modesto could hold more clues. I'm curious if anyone here has connections to these sources or knows someone who might have crossed paths with him before 1976. Would love to hear any insights or theories you all might have!
Did anyone notice how odd it was that Jacqueline withdrew exactly $4,000 before she went missing? It seems like a substantial amount for someone to just randomly take out of the bank, especially back in 1976. Maybe there’s a connection there? Did Toliver tell her to withdraw it, maybe to support them if they were planning to run? Or maybe it was supposed to be "hush money" of some kind? It’s just one of those details that feels significant but somehow is often overlooked in discussions about her case. What do you all think? Could this detail give us any clues about what might have happened to her?
Has anyone else been digging into the James Carlin Toliver angle? It’s chilling to read about how much chaos he left behind. I was going through some old newspaper archives, and the more you learn about his movements, the more patterns you start to see. What really stands out for me is the boldness of his actions. Imagine pulling someone from their normal life so blatantly, then disappearing them. The $4,000 withdrawal is another striking piece. In the '70s, that was a lot of money. Could it have been for escape? A payout? I keep wondering if there was a trigger that pushed Jacqueline to withdraw that amount and leave with him. Anyone have more insights into his background or connections that could shed more light on whether he had help or if he was entirely a lone wolf?
