Jacqueline Lucille Cooper, aged 27, was last seen on November 12, 1976, in Modesto, California. On the day of her disappearance, she withdrew $4,000 from her bank account and left with James Carlin Toliver, a coworker at the Tri/Valley Growers cannery. Cooper’s family indicated that Toliver had threatened her, stating that he would harm her family if she did not go with him. Jacqueline was never seen again after that encounter.
Toliver, considered a possible serial killer, is a prime suspect in Jacqueline's disappearance. He has also been linked to the disappearances of several other women in the Modesto area, including his wife Patricia Toliver and two other women, Hester Lee Chandler and Mary Watkins. Toliver himself died in 1980 from a heart attack while fleeing from a crime scene after killing another woman. Despite extensive investigations, Jacqueline’s body has never been found, and her case remains unsolved.
