Hey everyone, I've been reading through the threads here and wanted to add something a bit different from what's already been discussed. I noticed there hasn't been much talk about the community impact after Luis Carlos Guevara Jr.'s tragic passing. Living close to Oak Cliff, I've seen firsthand how this senseless act of violence has altered the fabric of our neighborhood. Beyond the obvious sadness and anger, there's a palpable tension that wasn’t as noticeable before. Parents are more cautious, and there's this underlying fear about letting their kids out even during the day. What's really hit hard is seeing how folks who might not have known Luis personally have stepped up, attending vigils and community meetings, all trying to push for safety improvements and better dialogue with law enforcement. It's heartwarming yet devastating to witness this collective grief inspiring action, but it feels like it comes too late. Luis’s loss has become a rallying point for change. I keep thinking about how his family must feel, not only dealing with the immeasurable pain of their loss but also faced with the task of being torchbearers for change in his name. Has anyone else noticed a shift in their communities after similar tragedies? How do we balance honoring Luis with ensuring this doesn’t happen to another family? Stay safe, everyone. ---
