I've been thinking a lot about the aftermath of the El Paso tragedy, especially concerning the young lives it cruelly cut short. Javier Amir Rodriguez, only 15, was robbed of a future that should have been bright and full of possibility. It's hard to imagine the pain his family must endure daily without him. I came across a news segment where they spoke about how Javier was a standout both academically and athletically—it just goes to show what a tremendous loss this is, not only for his loved ones but for the community as well. His father, Francisco, showed such courage by facing the man responsible in court. It’s so moving how he carried Javier’s ashes, keeping him physically close in those unbearable moments. I hope somehow, amid the suffering, we all can push for changes to prevent more senseless violence driven by hatred. My thoughts go out to Javier’s family and all those who suffered from this senseless attack.
