Does anyone have any thoughts on why John waited five days to report Debra and the twins missing? I find it odd, especially since they supposedly went to see her sick mother. You'd think he'd be eager to know they arrived safely. I know times were different back then, but this just doesn’t sit right with me. Was it a common practice in 1979 to wait so long before reporting loved ones missing, or am I missing something about how things worked back then? Any insights would be appreciated, as I'm still trying to wrap my head around this timeline.
I've been digging into Debra Lynn Kidwell's case, and I can't stop thinking about the timeline around when John reported them missing. Why wait five days? If he thought they were flying out to see Debra's sick mom, wouldn't you expect him to check in sooner? I mean, most people traveling long-distance would call home to say they made it okay. Especially when little kids are involved.
Did John really not think anything of not hearing from Debra for that long? It just doesn’t sit well with me. It's such a strange detail to focus on, given all that's happened, but it makes me wonder if there's more beneath the surface here. Any thoughts on why the delay—or am I reading too much into it?
I was looking into old missing persons cases and came across Debra Lynn Kidwell and her twin boys. Something that really caught my attention is the fact that John waited five days to report them missing. I know times were different back in 1979, but doesn't five days seem like a long time to think everything is okay, especially when Debra was supposed to be flying to see her sick mom? If it were me, I’d be making sure they got there safely, especially if they were supposed to be on a flight. Did John have any explanation for the delay, or was it just brushed off back then? It's so frustrating how these older cases sometimes feel like they’re just waiting to be forgotten. Hoping someone from the area or familiar with the case can shed more light on how this might have played out at that time.
