I've been following the tragic case of Abbaney and Deja Matts, and my heart goes out to their family, especially little Allen. I recently came across some discussions about the dorm security measures, and it got me thinking. How did Smith manage to bypass any security protocols at the Pride Rock Residence Hall? I assume universities generally have some level of security for residences, especially ones housing students. It's troubling to think about the ease with which Smith accessed the building, and whether or not modifications to security procedures have been put in place since this incident, especially to protect other students and their families. It’s just so upsetting to think that something might have been overlooked anywhere down the line that allowed this to happen. I sincerely hope the campus has reevaluated their safety measures to prevent another tragedy like this. The Matts family, and all involved, deserve answers and real change in the wake of this horrific crime.

Has anyone else been keeping up with the contrasting responses from the university after the tragic event? It seems like Texas A&M Commerce has been trying hard to support students and staff in the aftermath of this terrible loss, set up a memorial for Abbaney and Deja, and provide counseling services. But I can't help but wonder if more should be done to address the security issues that allowed this to happen in the first place. From what I understand, Smith shouldn't have had access to the dormitory. It's so concerning to think about how this lapse in security might have contributed to this tragedy. I hope the university is taking a hard look at their policies to ensure safety for everyone on campus. My heart goes out to the Matts family and little Allen—no one should have to endure such pain. Does anyone have updates on how the university plans to handle this moving forward, or any ideas on how campuses can improve safety measures?
