I can't stop thinking about how traumatic this whole ordeal must have been for Derrick's little girl. She was only 3 years old and to have been present during such a violent incident is just incredibly saddening. I hope she is receiving all the love and support she needs to heal and find some sense of normalcy after such a terrible event. I know the community is rallying around to help, but it makes me wonder how much we really do or even can do for kids who've witnessed such violence. Does anyone know if there are any local organizations specifically offering support for children who've experienced this kind of trauma in Austin? Derrick's family and friends have been through so much already, and I'm sure they'd appreciate any resources we can gather to help his daughter.
