Hi everyone,
I've been thinking about how the community responded in the wake of Iluminada's murder. It's incredible and deeply moving to see how the Houston community, especially among the Cuban population, came together to support each other during such a difficult time. I've read about neighborhood vigils and local groups raising awareness about domestic violence, which, I believe, highlights the strength and resilience of the community.
This tragedy sparked conversations in my own circles about the importance of checking in with our friends and loved ones who might be going through tough situations. It makes me wonder how we can better support each other to prevent these heart-wrenching incidents from happening. If anyone here knew of good resources or can suggest ways we can contribute, I'd love to hear them.
Iluminada deserved so much more, and her son’s future now looks entirely different because of this senseless violence. It's stories like these that remind us just how precious life truly is. Sending love to all who knew and loved her.
Take care, everyone.

I can't stop thinking about how Iluminada must have felt in those final moments. It breaks my heart to imagine the terror she must have experienced, trying to protect herself and probably thinking of her son the whole time. Situations like this really highlight how crucial it is to have resources and support readily available for people dealing with domestic issues. It's so important for friends, family, or even neighbors to be aware and take action if they see warning signs. This tragedy serves as a painful reminder of how domestic violence can shatter lives in an instant. My thoughts are with Iluminada’s loved ones as they navigate such a profound loss. Has anyone else noted how communities can better mobilize to prevent similar situations? It seems like awareness could make a real difference.
