I’ve been thinking a lot about the defense’s argument during the trial concerning Vasquez hearing voices. It's such a tragic situation all around. While nothing can justify his actions, it raises questions about mental health and its handling in our judicial system. The fact that someone could be in such a state and still be able to access a weapon is terrifying. I can’t imagine what Roel Munoz's family has gone through, especially considering his wife, Vanessa, was there and later passed away herself. It must be unimaginably difficult to process such a senseless loss. My thoughts go out to their loved ones. I hope that somehow, some way, awareness and proactive measures around mental health can prevent tragedies like this in the future. Does anyone know if there was a broader discussion or advocacy sparked in the community as a result of this case?
