I was reading about the horrific event in Fort Worth, and I just can’t get past the thought of how Joel Pocasangre Garay’s family must be feeling right now. Having your loved one’s life taken so suddenly and violently is unfathomable. I’m particularly struck by the bravery of the people who were there and tried to stop the shooter, even though they were in immense danger themselves. I’ve been thinking about how tight-knit communities are often the ones who have to deal with these kinds of tragedies head-on, and I really hope that they’re receiving all the support they need right now. It's a stark reminder of how quickly things can escalate and turn disastrous. Sending all my thoughts and strength to Joel’s family and the others affected. This just shouldn’t have happened.
