I still can't wrap my head around why anyone would target an innocent family on the way to get ice cream. The randomness of this act frightens me beyond words. Khamaya was only 5, and to have her life taken away like this is beyond tragic. It's deeply assuring to see the community rally behind Kristena and Khamani, but it's heart-wrenching that they have to bear this burden. It’s crucial for anyone with even the tiniest bit of information to step up. The world should be a safe place for kids, and I hope that the authorities can make a breakthrough soon. Seeing those billboards reminds me daily of how real and painful this loss is for her family. Stay strong, Khamani; your sister would be proud of you.
I can't stop thinking about Khamaya's brother, Khamani. I can't even begin to imagine the pain he's going through, losing his little sister like that, and on what should have been just a fun family outing for ice cream. He's been so strong through all of this, and I'm constantly moved by how he continues to honor Khamaya's memory. I noticed that the community has really rallied around him and his family, but it must be incredibly tough to heal from something so senseless.
It's so frustrating that there haven't been any arrests yet. With that much reward money on the line, you'd think someone would say something. If we all keep talking about it, sharing the news, maybe it'll reach someone who knows a bit more than they're letting on. This little girl really deserves justice, and so does Khamani. I hope somehow, some way, there will be answers soon. <3
