Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, but I've been really interested in learning more about historical crimes, especially those involving law enforcement. I recently came across the story of Deputy Sheriff Hinton Sasely's tragic murder in 1906. While the details of the case are quite harrowing, what struck me most was the swift act of mob justice that followed the incident.
Can anyone shed light on the social dynamics in Tennessee during that era, particularly in terms of mob mentality and law enforcement challenges? It seems like such a complex and risky time for officers who were dealing with both crime and public sentiment. Would love to hear your thoughts or any books/articles you might recommend!
Thanks in advance for any insights. Rest in peace, Deputy Sasely. My thoughts are with his loved ones during what must have been such a challenging time.
