It's truly disheartening to think about what Bryant Tatum and his family went through. I can't stop wondering about the potential he had as a young basketball player. Being just a junior varsity player at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, he must have had dreams and aspirations for his future beyond the court. Seeing someone with their whole life ahead of them having it tragically and senselessly cut short by such an act of hatred is deeply unsettling. I hope his family found some peace over the years, though I imagine the pain never really goes away. It's important that we remember not just the crime, but the individuals whose lives were taken too soon and the dreams that were unfairly ended.
