Reading about the renaming of part of Summer Place to Jerry Newson Way really touched me. It's such a beautiful and lasting tribute to Deputy Newson's dedication and courage. I can only imagine how bittersweet this is for his family—it's heartening to see his bravery and sacrifice being remembered like this, yet it must be a constant reminder of their immense loss. As someone who lives in Nashville, I pass by Jerry Newson Way fairly often, and it serves as a reminder of the risks our law enforcement takes every day. It always makes me pause and reflect on the sacrifices made not just by Deputy Newson but by so many officers who serve with such commitment. It's important that communities continue to honor those who have fallen in the line of duty, and I hope this gesture brings some comfort to his son and family in knowing his legacy lives on.
