I was thinking today about the toll this tragedy must have taken on Diane's friends at Richland High. It's unimaginable to consider how her classmates had to face something so horrific at such a young age. Many of them likely carry the memories of that day with them even now, years later. I hope the school and community offered counseling and support to those who needed it after experiencing such trauma. It's so important for us as a society to ensure that young people have access to mental health resources, not just in schools but in their homes and communities as well. This event was a stark reminder of how quickly things can go wrong when warning signs are missed or ignored. It's haunting to think what might have been if there'd been earlier intervention. My thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragedy, especially Diane's family and friends.
