It's been over two decades since the tragic events in Shelbyville, yet every time I read about Stephen Holton and his siblings, it still sends chills down my spine. I'm always haunted by the fact that these were innocent children who should have been safe with their family. What really strikes me is how Stephen, Brent, Eric, and Kayla Marie never got the chance to grow up or experience life like other kids their age. I can't stop thinking about the impact on the entire community and especially on Crystal Holton, the children's mother. Imagine someone you once trusted committing such an unspeakable act. I hope that in time, she found some peace and healing, though I can't even begin to fathom the depth of her pain. This case also makes me ponder how we can support individuals grappling with mental health issues before they reach such a breaking point. It's a tough conversation, but one we need to keep having to prevent tragedies like this from happening again. Sending thoughts of strength and remembrance to all those who were touched by this loss. ?
