I can't shake the feeling of sadness whenever I think about Kris Carlyle and what his family has gone through. I’ve been reading up on the court case, and the thing that really stands out to me is how Kris’s mom, Kathy Smith, and his boyfriend, Paul Puckett, must've felt during the trial. I can’t imagine the emotional turmoil of reliving that horrible night while having to testify and face the person responsible for taking Kris away from them. It’s pretty admirable how they’ve handled the situation, staying strong and continuing to fight for Kris's legacy. I hope they’ve found some solace in the fact that justice was served, though nothing can truly make up for their loss. It’s a harsh reminder of how fragile life can be and how one night can change everything. Keeping Kris's memory alive through his music must bring them some comfort, knowing they’re sharing his passion with the world despite the tragedy they’ve endured.
