I came across Officer Cotton Morgan's case recently, and I can't stop thinking about his incredible dedication to his job and his colleagues. It's gut-wrenching to think about how his life was cut short in such a violent manner. I don't think we can ever truly understand the courage it takes to be in law enforcement, especially in corrections, where danger is ever-present. What's truly haunting is the betrayal by Jennifer Hyatte. Having once worked in the prison system, she knew exactly how vulnerable officers like Cotton were, yet she still chose this path. It makes you wonder what goes through someone's mind when they decide to take such drastic measures. Her actions robbed Officer Morgan's family of a father and husband and the community of a true public servant. I'm grateful that justice was served, but nothing can bring Officer Morgan back. I hope that his family finds some comfort in knowing that his sacrifice isn’t forgotten and that his story continues to be a powerful reminder of the risks law enforcement face. Is anyone aware if any initiatives have been started in his memory to help protect other officers in the line of duty?
