I've been thinking about the role of witnesses in situations like the horrible tragedy involving Lisa Sullivan. I truly can't imagine how terrifying it must have been for that witness who was present and then had to run and seek help. We often focus on the victims, as we should, but I sometimes find myself concerned about those who witness these kinds of events firsthand. They carry such a heavy burden, too. I hope this person gets the support and care they need to process such a traumatic experience. It's a reminder of how domestic violence doesn't just affect those directly involved but ripples outward, impacting everyone around them. My heart goes out to everyone touched by this nightmare.
