I've been thinking a lot about the bravery of the survivors in the Kansas City triple homicide case from 2017. It's truly unimaginable what Ali's two-year-old son went through, enduring five gunshot wounds at such a tender age. This little one and the adult female who survived are warriors, and their resilience is remarkable.
Yet, this whole situation begs a bigger question about community safety. How do apartment complexes, like The Trails at the Ridge, ensure the safety of their residents? Are there measures in place now to prevent something so horrific from happening again?
It's crucial for all of us to not only push for justice for Ali, Victoria, and Darrell but also to insist on improvements in security for local housing communities. No family should have to experience such horror in what should be a sanctuary - their home. If anyone has ideas or experiences on how safety measures can be improved, let's get this conversation going. Ali's son deserves to grow up in a world where he feels secure.
