Did anyone else come across the memorial dedicated to Travis Scales on the National Gun Violence Memorial website? I recently stumbled upon it and it really hit home how important it is to remember these victims as people with stories and loved ones, not just another statistic. I think it's heartbreaking how so many cases like Travis's can fly under the radar when it comes to public awareness. It makes me wonder what more can be done to spotlight the human side of these tragedies and not let them be forgotten. His death in 2017 seems like just yesterday to some of us, I'm sure. Reading about the loved ones he left behind and how the community in Cape Girardeau gathered for his funeral service really moved me. It’s a solemn reminder of just how deeply gun violence can ripple through a community. Is anyone aware of any current community efforts or memorials in the Cape Girardeau area to keep Travis’s memory alive? I've heard of some communities doing walks or scholarships in the names of victims. If there's anything like that around, I'd love to help spread the word or participate in some way. It just seems so important to support one another through these times, even if it's just with a small act of remembrance.
