On the evening of November 19, 2018, a dispute that began earlier at a basketball game in Clarksville, Tennessee, ended in a deadly drive‑by shooting on Warfield Boulevard. Antorius Gallion, 22, was driving with his brother and a female passenger when a dark-colored Ford Taurus carrying three men pursued them and opened fire. Gallion was struck, lost control, and the vehicle crashed near Raleigh Court. He was taken to a Nashville hospital where he died. The female passenger suffered a back injury; his brother Antone Gallion was reportedly unharmed in the crash.
Clarksville Police identified three suspects: Vincent Bryan Rabbit Merriweather, Cedric Stacker, and Marques Lamarr Cheez Kelly. Stacker was arrested within days; Merriweather initially evaded capture and was later added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Top 10 Most Wanted before turning himself in December 2018; Kelly was arrested in Kentucky in May 2019. Later prosecutions resulted in guilty pleas: Merriweather pleaded to facilitation of voluntary manslaughter and facilitation of aggravated assault and received concurrent eight-year terms; Stacker pleaded to voluntary manslaughter and weapons charges and received a multi-year sentence. An unexpected development in the probe came in August 2021, when Antone Gallion was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder and related counts for allegedly returning fire during the incident; Joe O’Neal was also arrested as an accessory for helping Merriweather evade police.
What details about the earlier basketball dispute or the chase might help explain how events escalated to lethal violence?
