It's incredibly devastating to read about the case of Gelante M. Kneeland, another young life cut short by gun violence. Even as Memphis authorities seem to be making strides in dealing with violent crime, it feels like Gelante's case isn't getting the attention it deserves. The recent arrests in December 2024, including that of Donte Eddings for first-degree murder, give some hope that justice may be served, but without a clear connection to Gelante's case, it leaves a lot of us feeling unsettled. It’s commendable that the community has come together to remember Gelante, evident in the 469 candles lit in his honor. This shows how much he meant to the people who knew him and even to those who didn't. I hope that with continued attention and pressure, we might see a breakthrough in solving his murder. Whether it's tips leading to direct evidence or someone coming forward with crucial information, we owe it to Gelante and his loved ones to seek justice tirelessly.
