I've been thinking a lot about Demetria Rivers, and my heart goes out to her loved ones, especially her little daughter, Zhuri. As more details came out about the murder-suicide situation, it just reminded me of how complex and difficult relationships can sometimes hide beneath the surface. I didn’t know Demetria personally, but from all accounts, she seemed to be someone who spread joy and warmth to those around her. It’s always so hard to grasp when tragedy strikes so close to home, and it’s important we remember that real people are left picking up the pieces. I'm glad to hear the community has been rallying around her family, but it breaks me to think of what they've lost in Demetria—especially her siblings and daughter. It makes me realize how important it is to reach out to those around us, check in on our friends and family, and offer love and support. I hope Zhuri knows how loved her mom was, and feels supported as she grows up. Sending love to everyone devastated by this.
